blue belle lament - adrian glynn

“On a warm night, Adrian Glynn and the Soft Villians came over to play a tune and lament over smooth glass of scotch - here’s what they laid down. This is one take, live off the floor at The Shed. “

“As part of the Peak Performance Project Bootcamp, each band was asked to write a song with a title of “In A Minute”

So we teamed up with the incredibly talented Adrian Glynn, and this was the final product,

hope you enjoy it!

Backup Dancers: Tamara Umlah (Familia), Pyper Geddes, and Sven Peterson.”

Artist: Adrian Glynn & The Soft Villains

Song: Mother Mary

Adrian Glynn and The Soft Villains met the Green Couch in the heart of Railtown at the Vancouver Urban Winery. The beautiful old warehouse has been completely transformed. High wooden rafters, a roaring fire and a wall of wine barrels greeted us as we entered this incredible space.

Unlike our first session with Glynn, in the snow, the winery was warm and soon filled with the life of Adrian’s music. In this song “Mother Mary,” Glynn plays a balalaika, a Ukrainian folk instrument passed down through a century of his ancestry and is accompanied by the Soft Villains on drums, bass and slide guitar. The four pound through the music making you feel every beat.

The urban winery is the first of its kind in Vancouver, giving urban dwellers an authentic wine making experience without traveling to a vineyard. The winery also operates as a unique special events space and the owners were wonderful to let us film a Green Couch Session there.
